David
has been Organist & Director of Music at
Saint Chad's Metropolitan
Cathedral in
Birmingham since 1978. He directs the Cathedral
Singers, an adult chamber choir of some 20
voices, in repertoire ranging from plainsong and
polyphony to the present day. The choir sings at
the Sunday 11.00am Mass during term as well as
the 6.00 pm Mass on Holydays, and at Christmas
and Easter. The Cathedral Singers under
David’s direction undertook concert tours of
southern France in the summer of 2006 and
Switzerland in the summer of 2007.
David played a pivotal role in the decision to build a new organ in the Cathedral in 1994. Made by the English firm of J W. Walker with Nicolas Kynaston as consultant, the organ has a national reputation as a recital and teaching instrument, and is used by Birmingham Conservatoire for concerts, teaching and examination.
